The suffix “degli Spezieri” (Spezieri = Spices) was added to better qualify the palace where, during the most glorious time of the Morosini dynasty – which was that of the discovery of the Spice Route – merchants commerced in spices bought in the East and dispatched from Venice across Europe. Evidenced by the name of the adjacent street ‘Calle degli Spezieri’ the traders of this exotic and precious merchandise probably worked on the ground floor. Meanwhile large windows let in incredible views so that you don’t even have to leave your apartment to experience the beauty that is Venice.

This apartment provides every convenience with large closets, surround sound, smart controls for lights, a full kitchenette that can be hidden away, etc… Everything is accentuated by natural light spilling generously onto every surface.

Palazzo Morosini Degli Spezieri is situated conveniently in the middle of the city but tucked away from the crowded thoroughfares. Clean lines wrap and flow through the palazzo’s architecture, austerity masterfully cut by the way the beautifully renovated structure retains and the warmth of it’s historical features. Managed with a very gracious touch and every detail anticipated, here you feel both master of your own space yet very well cared for.
One of the most magical features is an exquisite garden wrapped by the canal and accessible only to guests.
Through the courtyard you will pass the palazzo’s private water entry and emerge in what feels like another world, a natural haven tucked away from the bustle of the streets and surrounded by breathtaking patinas and architecture. Here you have Venice all to yourself.
After unpacking we set out for the evening. We’d asked for some dinner recommendations and although keen to explore the neighborhood if truth be told we were already looking forward to coming back, relaxing with some Prosecco and indulging in long hot showers before falling into deep cushions and crisp beds.
