Lazib Inn at Al Fayoum Oasis - Egypt

After a few hour’s drive west into the desert from Cairo you will arrive at the Fayoum Oasis. Here perched at a vantage just above the shores of the lake we find Lazib Inn.

Its pools and palm-shaded lawns frame the sprawling gated property in blues and greens offsetting the warm tones of its stone paths and tera stucco build.

The color palette at Lazib is playful throughout. Lush bougainvillea pour from shaded balconies. Bright yellow towels bedeck cream lounge chairs in a signature touch of colorful taste.

The grounds slope down below the first pool and the restaurant’s courtyard, giving way to hazy lake views.

Cut into the lawn, a full-service bar abuts Lazib’s second pool. Here, guests can enjoy cocktails, small bites, and sunbathe on the terrace.

When the sweet smell of sun-baked greenery is released into the evening as temperatures cool, laughter filters down from the restaurant terrace, and the sky is painted in delicate rose and warm blues.

Soon garden lights begin to glimmer and a new scent, that of wood-fired baked bread beckons us to dinner just as the first few stars pierce the deepening desert sky.

In our suite, a wood-burning fireplace and hand-carved furniture provide the sitting room with a homey touch, while light fills the space from a generous span of floor-to-ceiling windows facing the lake. A sprawling bath with jacuzzi jets and another large picture window provides a delectable way to relax and wash off the dust from a day’s exploring.

A “honeymoon” suite that we got a peek at boasts its own private outdoor jacuzzi with a privacy wall complete with an arched window to open up stunning views over the lake.

Closer to the lake, Lazib has its own vast vegetable garden, furnishing the restaurant with tomatoes and garlic and other fresh produce.

Lazib’s artful details lend to its personality. Colored glass bottles pierce the ceiling of Lazib Inn’s game room, casting jeweled reflections over the pool table and foosball table.

In a move both practical and deliciously inspired, Lazib built its own traditional outdoor bread oven for that incredible wood fired taste.

Despite its remote setting in a charming lakeside oasis village, dining at Lazib is not compromised. A superb compliment to the hotel, Blue Donkey is the hotel’s regionally renowned restaurant and it boasts a mouthwatering menu serving up both classic Western and Egyptian dishes.

Likewise, breakfast at Lazib is a mouthwatering affair in the tradition of the finest flavors of Egyptian hospitality.

We loved every minute of our stay here. Lazib Inn brings to life the heart of the oasis, with its stunning verdant walks, glimmering blue pools, ample refreshments, and luxurious conveniences.

We found Lazib Inn to be the perfect home away from home while exploring the Al Fayoum village and region. You can visit their website and book your own stay HERE.
