Our apartment featured exquisite details, such as a stunning marble and mirrored fireplace, recessed accent lighting, and a large in-room bathtub. The apartment came complete with a full kitchenette, a private gated sunbathing garden, and a spacious washroom with a rain shower head.
In the 14th century, locals in the Puglia region cleverly adapted to an overbearing tax on permanent structures by developing an odd-looking mortarless stone architecture. These almost fairy-tale-looking buildings utilized a cone shape’s natural structural support and could be disassembled when tax collectors came calling and re-assembled afterward.
The Puglian town of Alberobello became particularly iconic for its many Trullo and the peculiar sight of these picturesque little whimsical, whitewashed, cone buildings together.
Alberobello is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a bit of a tourist magnet but the best way to see it is to stay overnight so that after the evening’s tours are gone you can walk the no longer crowded streets and ideally stay in a Trullo of your own.
Our Trullo’s open floorplan flowed from the main “dome” to the kitchen to the washroom in an open spacious design that was light and bright, with modern accent lighting adding a perfect moody, romantic touch.
Our fully accessorized kitchenette was complete with a cushy breakfast nook, which opened its doors to a stylish, private sunbathing garden just outside.
The Trullo’s bright arced spaces were accented with the plush accoutrements you expect from a five-star stay and its minimalist detailing added a deliciously edgy contrast to the historic architecture.
Each element of the space is tastefully curated to elevate the experience, making this an exquisitely comfortable and memorable stay that fully does justice to Alberobello’s famed charm.
If I were to recommend a honeymooner stay or romantic getaway in the Puglia region, La Mandorla Luxury Trulli would be at the top of the list. This luxury Trullo apartment is very private, and complete with every convenience. The lighting and the flow of the space create a dreamy, intimate ambiance.
While we were in Alberobello, there was an event for Gucci. As evening fell, the typical tourists filling the historic streets of the center were replaced with the industry’s long-legged and well-heeled denizens of the med summer circuit.
