Pinot Di Loto
Perhaps one of the best-kept secrets in the Kiklahdes, Pinot Di Loto is the perfect refuge for honeymooners and island hoppers alike.
Perched overlooking breathtaking panoramic ocean views from the sunset side of the island of Syros, Pinot Di Loto’s bright white classic Grecian structures framing a glimmering pool and well stocked bar. Accommodations are equipped with all the comforts one expects of a luxury boutique hotel, yet it is the gracious standards of hospitality that make a stay at Pinot Di Loto unforgettable.
Like all great getaways, the setting is everything. Mountainous Syros juts dramatically up from a seaport where the steep winding streets of its colorful capital Ermopouli spill down to the bay. The island retains an unadulterated Greek culture, remaining a haven for the holidaygoers who don’t want to be overrun by other tourists. A steep switchback drives up and over the ridge will take you to Kini, a tiny beach town where the party on the beach never stops but lethargic ease pervades overall. The English speaking is thin here and you will mostly be left to yourselves to explore. It’s here just above Kini, golden in the evening sun where we arrive at Pinot Di Loto.
Pinot Di Loto perches just above the bay with unmatched views. What sets Pinot Di Loto apart from other places we’ve stayed is an ethos of genuinely warm and extraordinarily thoughtful hospitality. The extent to which your needs and wants have been anticipated is constantly and pleasantly surprising and somehow completely unobtrusive.
The owners have taken every care in the details, from complimentary samplings of delicious local products and a greeting bottle of wine to a luxurious pillow menu and home comforts from the unsurpassed Cocomat brand. Greeted personally when you arrive you feel oddly like you’ve come home.
Pinot Di Loto just finished remodeling several exquisite lights and bright spacious honeymoon suites complete with a private pool and views of the bay from every room. Pinot Di Loto’s friendly and attentive staff attends to every need and brings the offerings of a full bar right to you. The sense of ease and relaxation is intoxicating on its own.
Breakfast at Pinot de Loto cannot go without special mention. Being foodies we always want to track down local samplings and cuisine wherever we go, but this took things to the next level. A handcrafted menu that features all local offerings expertly paired for you over the course of several days, the selection of fresh flavorful Greek cuisine is mouthwateringly memorable.
We enjoyed exploring the island but it was so tempting to stay in at Pinot Di Loto with its alluring ease, incredible views, full bar, and luxurious amenities. However, when we ventured down into Kini the dining and scenic walk to the beach were well worth it. We noticed on the beach a statue of a mermaid and we asked about it upon our return, apparently it’s a local myth that Alexander the Great had a sister who was a mermaid and she would lure men to her and ask if they had heard of the Great Alexander and unfortunately for them if they hadn’t, she would kill them. In Kini there is a MUST EAT, visit Dyo Tzitzikia St’ Armirikia for our pictures of their amazing menu click here, just be prepared to drool.
Just a note! Pull out cash in Ermopouli because most island shops don’t take cards. The ever-thoughtful owners of Pinot de Loto helped us arrange for taxis in Greek and to sort out ferry tickets which were very confusing.
Evenings at Pino Di Loto are magical, the sunset unsurpassed while the lights across the bay sparkle to life.
