Seoul and South Korea
Explore Series by Lane Oliveri for Branwyn, : A Travel Friendly Wool Performance Underlayer
As part of an Active Lifestyle Travel series with Branwyn, photographer Lane Oliveri shot skate, surf, and explored Myeondong in Seoul, South Korea. Explore behind the scenes with us on this shoot.
Lane; “Shooting with Branwyn in different world locations has been an accidental study of social perceptions toward women globally. The challenge of modeling in underlayers outside of a studio has that effect.
While much of South Korea is quite modern and women are promised social parity, the reality is a bit more volatile. Feminism is a “bad word” in Korea, and women are hesitant about being labeled as such because of the social stigma and even blatant bullying that comes with it.
While I was there the “Barbie” movie came out and it was an interesting source of dissension and conversation. While shooting, the model and I enjoyed a frank conversation about this, between surfing wipeout stories and shared travel tips.
Our model was deep in her studies, with just two years left to complete her doctorate, yet scars, scratches, and bandages riddle her legs and arms, despite the seriousness of her chosen profession, this woman keeps her child self alive and well with her sense of adventure and rough and tumble sense of fun.
In this shoot, we ran the gamut moving from surf to skate, to the glowing alleys of Myeondong carried by our model’s blunt smile and deadpan “cool” energy.
This bra is an interesting piece in that it is designed to serve the active lifestyle woman, nowhere is this practicality and flexibility more apparent than in the lifestyle of an active lifestyle traveler and we explored this range as well as its quick drying properties in this shoot.
